Today’s DJ's are Artists in their own rights, offering balanced and electric mixes of musical styles for all ages, plus the songs played will sound exactly as you remember them, encouraging sing-along and improvisation.
DJ's typically have a much broader repertoire than a live band and can easily add any special songs you request. (There's a limit to the amount of songs a band can sing)
A DJ with a charismatic stage presence and excellent emcee skills can really set the mood and keep the party going.
A Band is likely to be more expensive!
Your special requests will be sung by your favourite Artist.
The biggest plus for hiring a DJ is they don’t take breaks. Bands often take breaks and when this occurs your crowd will probably disperse and may not stay as long as you expected.
A DJ can be more versatile - they can go from pop songs right into Country, Disco, Big Band etc. without a problem.
Choosing a Band could result in you not getting to hear every song you want as most bands may not know every song off the top of their heads.
If your venue has limited floor space, a DJ may be a better choice as minimal space is needed for their equipment.
